Our Generous God
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.” Psalm? ?81:10? ?NIV??
Texts like this continue to amaze me at the generosity of God. He’s not the God who says, “I’ve brought you out, now be thankful”. But He goes beyond that to say that He will do more for His people.
Later in this psalm the Scripture promises, that we will “be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” (v16) God’s generosity is for the purpose of our finding our deepest satisfaction in Him alone.
This morning I have a choice to feed on and be satisfied by God alone or to find satisfaction in other things. As I set out to do all the things that I have to where will I place my greatest trust and look for the greatest contentment?
God’s generosity was best seen in the provision of Jesus as the Saviour for the sins of the world. At one point, “Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’” John? ?6:35? ?NIV??
In His great generosity God provides but the choice is ours to receive His generosity and find our deepest satisfaction in Him. I pray I will. And that you will too.
